which strap end for which camera?

We have three different strap ends that we use on both wrist straps and neck straps:

lug mount/split ring

string attach

tripod mount

There are five common ways that cameras use for connecting:

lug mount

slotted lug

tripod mount

rod

The question most asked is "Which one do I use on my camera?" Here is a chart that shows our recommendations.

It is possible to use the string strap on the cameras with lugs but the metal has to be smooth or it will cut the strap. You can see below that the lug is in two pieces and there is a potential for burrs and sharp edges.   Many cameras come with triangular split rings. They are for web straps and are to be removed. The plastic part can be pried off and the split ring can then be removed.
