A last minute entry until the craziness of tonight. TestingTesting is tonight but tonight we move my living room down to historic Bayview Cash Store for a show, with a paying audience, with Dana Lyons of "Cows With Guns" fame. Still a lot to set up in both virtual and reality spaces. Wacka Wacka!

Yamaha Papercraft
I did some paper models a few years ago. They are amazing. They are 3D models which you make from printed pieces of paper. You cut them out, fold them up on the appropriate lines, glue it all together and you end up with a remarkably accurate model. I can enjoy just looking at the flat pages and be amazed how they could translate flat pages to 3 dimensions.

There used to be a shop up in Coupeville that had nothing but paper models but they moved. So sad. Now Yamaha has a site with paper models you can print out on your color printer and make motorcycles and rare animals. Amazing.

Mr Bush's bad dream

Conscienceless conservatism runs amok

Mr Bush's inherited political fantasy is of an America that is homogeneous at home and dominant and unchallengeable abroad. It is of an American society that is God-fearing, uniform and structured, that upholds the old values because they are simply the best, that leads the world because the world simply knows it is right. That Mr Bush is not a deep thinker has become apparent to all. Nor is that so terrible. But what is terribly troubling is that this president does not seem to question or delve beneath the superficial images that flicker across his screen, be they of China (atheistic communists), Iraq (evil dictatorship), or environmentalists (anti-business liberals). He is beguiled by fatuous ideas of the make-believe past, by its false certainties and old totems.
