It snowed Wednesday night leaving me with this view of 4" of snow on Thursday. We had planned to visit Zoe's mom Thursday but even Doug, or profressional truck-driving friend, wouldn't go out in this weather. Friday wasn't going to be any warmer but it was supposed to be sunny and it was so and we made it down and back with no problems thanks to the 4-wheel drive and ABS on Zoe's Jeep Cherokee. It was made for this weather. We had to go Friday because of another storm coming in tonight that is supposed to dump several more inches. Harsh for Puget Sound standards. It was a zoo at the local supermarket as everyone was stocking up for the storm. There are supposed to be high winds which means power outages her on the Island. We are set up. I made bread tonight and our lanterns have fresh batteries.

It had been over two weeks since we had seen Zoe's mom. First there was the trip to Colorado (from the 2nd to the 8th) to see my daughter Jenny and her family and new home. (Pictures and details to come. Took many film pictures. No digital on this trip.) We both had colds when we got back. Zoe was really bad. Then we got a call on Saturday the 13th from Western State Hospital where Zoe's mom, Gerry, lives in the Alzheimer's/dementia ward. Gerry had a seizure. They sent her to the emergency Room but the tests showed nothing. (Zoe has more here.) At least she was sitting down and didn't fall. (She broke her nose the last time.) There is a period of grogginess that happens after a seizure. She has been slow to recover from it. It had been almost a week since her seizure when we saw her last night and she is definitely dimished. The spark that is Gerry just wasn't very bright. I hope she gets better and recovers from the seizure and that this is not a progression of her Alzheimer's.
