It was a rough day full of fits and starts but it was absolutely lovely while company was here. Today this 1953 baby became 53! Oh my. I logged on, and found a great card from Kim. It's nice to be cared about, and known well enough to have my friend guess I needed something special today more than other days. Nice. First thing, I phoned Mom to tell her I'd be coming over tomorrow, and to tell her it's her "labor day". I don't think she realizes it's my birthday even though I said it. It is so sad to have her so near, but so horrifically far away in mind, heart, and soul. I keep wanting to call and just talk or ask things like the old days. It's a tease as she sounds like herself, but she can't really articulate, nor can she recall things. I miss her so much. Gordy was working to clean the house for the party tonight. Cake and Ice cream, and dear friends and dear family and dear ones. I got a phone call from Jim -- and he even was convinced to sing Happy Birthday, despite his reluctance to do it. Yay! He also said he had a special birthday event to celebrate...ugh, he had to have one of those "procedures" that age requires. William phoned, and I spoke to Miz Robyn too. Heard a great story about Evan...the one legends are made of (now that he's safe). William woke up this AM to a saw or something electrically tooled buzzing away. Billiam shook himself awake to find that Evan (who is turning 2 May 2nd) had climbed up the shelf, to grab the power drill, then put a drill bit in somehow, and he and baby Madge (she's a chocolate Lab puppy) drilling into the carpet!!! Phew -- he and Made had some amazing guardian angels taking care of them. I had a warm message from Terri, she's at Aunt Joan's, so it was bittersweet to know they were all together, a family, my family, and I felt so alone and remote here. And I miss my family of birth. I am sad and empty in-between moments of love from my loved one's who are local. Then, on time, I get a Mikey bear hug and happy birthday...oh joy! And Katie! Then, Douggie and Kim! Now Rhonda! Look, here's Robby and Hannah. Ah...these are amazing people, I'm blessed to have them in my life. And my Gordy worked so hard to get me a birthday, with real Gordy-cake! We had a game of Croquet...or as Gordy likes to call it, Xtreme Croquet -- why? because the lawn is a rough all by itself. And, despite the directive of NO PREZZIES (Rob insisted that his wasn't a prezzie, it was a gift aha! a technicality), I was loved with flowers and a plant that will survive even my black thumb, and, Gordy not only did the wood floors, and make my cake, and get goodies to nosh on, but he gave me the "crank" to hand wind continuously, the Movie camera he gave me. Thank you everyone for caring and laughing and hugs and today's celebration! Happy birthday to me.... ## Pictures will follow.
