These can now be moved to a post that will be archived because Barack Obama is our President Elect!!! Last night Gordy cried, today I did.
A weight appears to be lifting from our collective shoulders. It will take time and work by all of us to keep this momentum going; including the removal of the very used "tool of fear" we've been assaulted by for the past 8 years! I'm working to keep my energy high and positive while trying to allow myself to feel again without censure.
It was fabulous being with Robby and Megan -- to talk with, laugh with, debate with and watch this amazing, historical, moment together. Ah youth! and most specifically, these amazing, smart, caring kids. This is good.
Well, BBC was talking to American folk which almost negated the objective look...but they have such a wrong take on it. The BBC is saying that it's all about race. They are counting black population to determine what they expect to win. No way is that on target. They are looking at us with such wrong eyes which truly makes it scary as to how else other countries, who don't speak the same language as we do, meaning English, see us. Very bad. I'm so glad that that Obama wins by the landside I hope he should so they learn we are about people, new blood and change, and not color - that we are not the "blue eyed devil".
Go blue go ... keep voting if you haven't yet.
And he won Illinois and Pennsylvania! Time for me to turn to the yankee stations now. Peace! ## PS BBC says now McCain 34, Obama 103 as of this post - projected!
OK, I can't help myself -- I have BBC news on right now. I figured they prolly won't be being mean-spirited, or "creating news" as much as our own news-stations do, hence less "toxic"..TBD as I watch and listen while getting ready for the kids visit.
I have to say that so far so good, reportage of facts, and presuming a British audience, they are explaining things clearly and concisely about voting, electoral college, and other basics which I am enjoying.
So, I hope they don't change their more objective reportage, 'cuz this way I will be allowed to have some clue on the pulse of election day without the pundits' POV.
Curiouser and Curiouser that I had to turn to overseas reporting to get the first amendment right. Let's hope that it will all change with our new president who will re-establish our constitutional rights. Peace! ##
Okay okay - I'm not staying entirely away, but this is something I found at Gordy's site and love, and then I found the lower photo which is something Gordy will go nuts for!!!
How Auspicious...but this doesn't mean sit home, don't vote, it's in the bag ... it's just 21 votes and no electoral votes...
DIXVILLE NOTCH, New Hampshire (CNN) -- Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama emerged victorious in the first election returns of the 2008 presidential race, winning 15 of 21 votes cast in Dixville Notch, New Hampshire.
People in the village in New Hampshire's northeast corner voted just after midnight Tuesday.
It was the first time since 1968 that the village leaned Democratic in an election. Obama's rival, Republican John McCain, won 6 votes. A full 100 percent of registered voters in the village cast ballots. And the votes didn't take long to tally.
The town, home to around 75 residents, has opened its polls shortly after midnight each Election Day since 1960, drawing national media attention for being the first place in the country to make its presidential preferences known.
However, since 1996, another small New Hampshire town -- Hart's Location -- reinstated its practice from the 1940s and also began opening its polls at midnight. The result in Dixville Notch is hardly a reliable bellwether for the eventual winner of the White House -- or even the result statewide.
While New Hampshire is a perennial swing state, with 4 Electoral College votes at stake, Dixville Notch consistently leans Republican. The last Democrat it picked was Hubert Humphrey over Richard Nixon in 1968." [snip]
More interesting stats, a video, and snaps are availabale in the CNN article. I have been told to stay away from news and other stressors, especially today, so I will do my best as I've had to get "grounded" yesterday by seeing Julie, and methinks I've already blown the lovely work she did with me, so it's my turn to take care of me...breathing is a good, and sleep would have been nice, all this to keep me from stomach flares...but I will look into the bag o' tricks, and tools and work to stay outta the emergency room!!!
Tonight Robby and hopefully Megan, and Katie and Mike will come over for our new tradition of election comfort waffles and election results, a good time to be had, as well as historical, by all. Please Vote, even if it means waiting in lines. Peace! ##
My dear friend, Judy G from CT sent me a link to this vid, and it is too cute and a breath of fresh air -- OTOH, if our Evan, who's also 4, did this video, methinks it would be amazingly cuter still...!
